Field Hockey |
Written by Catherine Davis | |
Field hockey teams are made up of eleven players comprised of defenders, attackers, mid fielders and a goalie, and hockey matches last for seventy minutes. Hand to eye coordination and positional awareness are valuable skills to begin with and as with other sports, the fitter you are, the more you'll enjoy it. Jogging, running and working out in a gym are good ways to build up strength, stamina and flexibility. Hockey is played by all ages and both sexes, and hockey clubs welcome new members. Most hockey is played in leagues with local county and regional associations. Weekly hockey matches are held throughout the season which runs from September to May. Variations on field hockey include ice hockey and indoor hockey, which is played in teams of six.
