TriathlonTriathlon is an athletic endurance sport that combines swimming, cycling and running. The races take place in immediate succession with participants competing to achieve the fastest time. This includes the time taken to switch between events.

Triathlon distances are divided into 'Sprint Triathlon', which is suitable for first timers, 'Olympic', the more common length for experienced triatheltes, and 'Iron Man Triathlon', where body and mind are tested to the limit.

Being a multi-sport, triathlon works and tones all the major muscles and increases heart and lung capacity. For triathlon, a high level of fitness is essential. Competitors must pace themselves so as to preserve energy and stay firmly focussed on their goal.

Triathletes train to develop speed and stamina and use weights to build up strength. Changing routines, doing different runs and training with new partners will make it more varied and help to keep up motivation.
