We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. Thornton Wilder.

A gratitude journal is a quick and easy way to find and remind yourself of the good things going on your in your life.

We often tend to accentuate negatives and ignore the positives in our lives. A gratitude journal helps redress the balance by making us more mindful and appreciative of what's going well.

Every night, just before you go to sleep, write down 3 things that went well for you that day. Reflect on each one, bring it to mind and make a note of why it went well and how it made you feel. These needn't be big, important things, just anything in your day that gave you a good feeling.

After a day or two you may find your sleep improves and you keep noticing more positive things, these are sure signs the exercise is working. After a week or two, when you look back over your notes you may also see a more positive pattern emerging and have gained some new, useful insights.
