Adult ballet dancing classes attract a mix of abilities and although previous experience may be useful it isn't essential - any age group can take up ballet and benefit from it.

Ballet dancing may seem a tough test for more mature muscles at first glance, but you can take the classes at your own pace. Each exercise at the barre warms and stretches different muscles and studying ballet can help prevent injuries, especially back problems.

Ballet classes present both physical and mental challenges. They're great for keeping fit and developing poise and flexibility. You will look taller and slimmer as your posture and core strength improve, which can in turn enhance self confidence.

Ballet classes allow you to switch off from day to day worries as you concentrate on the steps that you're performing. Whilst demanding and sometimes frustrating, there is a real sense of achievement to be had from mastering new skills and techniques.
