Bibliotherapy: Reading & Wellbeing |

We can use reading to boost our wellbeing in a variety of ways, to inform & educate, to entertain or escape and also to expand or change our perspective. In fact there's a formal form of therapeutic reading called bibliotherapy that is sometimes used to help people in difficult life situations. For it to be effective the reader needs to go through these four stages: 1. Identifying with the characters and events in the story 2. Connecting with them emotionally 3. Finding solutions or approaches to apply in their own lives 4. Realising their problems are not unique or insoluble
