Canyoning is about testing your nerve in spectacular scenery. A relatively new sport, canyoning combines scrambling, climbing, rock jumping and swimming to traverse canyons, gorges and sections of the coast line. Energetic, exciting and sometimes scary, canyoning treats the landscape as a wild adventure playground.

There are action packed canyoning routes to suit all abilities, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced for real adrenalin addicts. You don't need to have any special skills or even be a particularly strong swimmer, since you'll be equipped with a buoyancy aid.

Make sure you have an accredited canyoning activity provider Your guide will carry out health and safety checks prior to setting out and then issue a wet suit, life jacket and helmet. Canyoning groups usually consist of between two and eight people.

Scotland and Wales are the main locations in the UK for full and half day canyoning trips, some of which are angled towards ecology so you can learn about the environment as you explore it.
