Manicures and Pedicures

Manicures and pedicures are a pleasant way to be pampered and result in well cared for, more attractive hands and feet.

Manicures and pedicures are available at nail bars, beauty salons and health spas, but it's also simple to do it yourself at home.

For a home manicure, begin by filing your nails following the oval shape of the nail base. After soaking in warm water, gently push back the cuticles using an orange stick and/or cuticle remover. For a pedicure, use a foot scrub or pumice stone on dead skin. Apply moisturiser and let it sink in before applying a layer of base coat. When that's dry, apply polish (a neutral or clear shade will last longer), and then top coat. Clean up any excess with nail polish remover and a cotton bud.

A few more tips to care for your nails are to wear rubber gloves for rough jobs and get plenty of iron and zinc in your diet. If you bite your nails, try keeping them painted or applying a special nail biting cream.
